Metta meditation, as known as a loving kindness mediation, is a Buddhist meditation that has been around for thousands of years. It surpasses religion and can be experienced by anyone. Metta meditation is an incredibly powerful type of meditation and self care tool.
This form of meditation focuses on compassion, beginning by centering on extending loving kindness towards oneself…and releasing anger, anxiety, hurt, shame, pain, and guilt. Similar to self care, loving kindness for self is essential and needs to established first…and from this place one can extend love outward to others…
As the Metta meditation progresses, it shifts from focusing on oneself to those you love…your neighbors…strangers…all living beings on the planet…and the world at large. Metta medition additionally extends loving kindness to one’s enemies.
My favorite way to use Metta meditation is through a guided meditation. There are many versions online and YouTube. I will be holding a Live Facebook Metta Meditation event on Sunday FEBRUARY 25th at 1pm EST within the Autumn & Fig Private Group page.
